My Heart
Yesterday, a friend of mine was sharing with me that he is now writing affirmations every morning when he gets to his desk. That was very surprising to hear from him, you know? He brought me into his office and said, “Look at what I’m doing!” Then he pulled a notebook out of his drawer, filled with notes. “I’m thanking God every day for specific things and also declaring that my week is going to be like this, this, and that,” he said.
Well… coming from a Christian, this sounds completely normal. It’s a lifestyle, right? But what does it sound like when it doesn’t?
That got me very thoughtful.
My friend in question is not a devoted Christian. He’s going through some trials and chose to get closer to God in the midst of his problems. It was surprising to realize I felt privileged to have this shared with me. He saw how excited I was and said, “I have to show you this.”
This inspired me to get back to writing every day here in our blog section.
Maybe I won’t write as much as I used to due to time constraints, but I will be writing here quickly each day as a way to bless someone’s day.
There’s a right time for certain things to come to pass in our lives. Just the other day I was reading this passage from the Bible:
“When the time is right, I, the Lord, will make it happen.” Isaiah 60:22
A lot of people like something and feel like maybe the thing they like isn’t random. It comes as a strong desire. Desire triggers pursuit. Pursuit manifests destiny. When you have something burning so strongly within you, you shouldn’t ignore it. You should stop and pay attention to the signs surrounding you. Those signs might be an indicator that what you’re feeling isn’t just something of your own. It could be God.
But the problem is that we waste too much time looking at what we don’t have. We’re daily validated by the things we are not. You feel guilty and worried, and it takes you out of focus, out of your true self. Your real identity.
When Sarah was called the mother of many nations, she was barren. Abraham was called the father of nations before he had a single child. Whatever you are called to be or to lead and feel like you don’t have the specific qualifications that would make you what God already says you are, it doesn’t matter. The call comes before the manifestation. Identity precedes reality. God names things not as they are, but as they should be. God doesn’t speak to your circumstances. He speaks to your destiny.
So this is how I’m taking my life nowadays: If I feel like there has to be more, it’s because there is more.
Search your feelings.
A lot of people say, “Don’t listen to your feelings because they are deceitful,” but feelings aren’t meant to be your master. They’re messengers. When aligned with truth and discernment, they can reveal what’s buried deep inside your spirit. Don’t ignore them. Interpret them. Become an outside the box thinker. Don’t get framed by what you know.
